Imagine the first episode of the new series being a year later and starting with Finn (all bundled up in a jumper, a scarf that Linda knit for him as a gift, and his leather jacket) bringing Rae a brew in a bookstore and then discussing what they’re gonna buy the gang for Christmas. While they’re talking, Rae’s voice-over plays as she starts filling us in with what happened between when we last saw them all the way up to that point.

The last episode goes back to them in the bookstore, and Finn is arguing with Rae about how they should get Archie more strings for his guitar because two of the ones he has now snapped a couple of weeks ago, but Rae wants to get him a copy of The Iliad because he’s been obsessed with Greek Mythology lately. The episode ends at Rae’s house, with the Bouchtat family and all of Rae’s friends around the Christmas tree. Before the screen fades to black, Rae holds up a mistle toe and Finn kisses her, with cheers erupting from the background.
