PSA: Please help me pay off my medical debt..
I know I don’t post a lot, but this is a bit of an emergency. I’m 14 years old and I have a condition known as Leaky Gut Syndrome. (LGS)
LGS is a condition where the lining of my intestines has been broken through because of toxins, inflammation and pathogenic bacteria/ other microbes. So I have a bad bacterial infection that is absorbing the nutrition from my food AND the holes in my intestines allow particles of food to pass into my blood stream that don’t belong there. Then my immune system attacks the food I just ate. This causes me to be hungry all the time, my body isn’t getting the nutrition from what I eat, and I have intestinal symptoms and many food allergies that I was not born with: eggs, corn, wheat and dairy. LGS has also been directly linked to causing serious auto-immune diseases if it is untreated. My mom has the same condition and she was feeling very sick every time she ate, no matter what she ate.
My mother and I were able to find a doctor who would treat us. We have a six month program, including new diet and lots of natural supplements. We’ve been working with the system for a month now and are feeling so much healthier and happier. The problem is that we are now over $2,000 in debt just for part of my own care.
On top of the debt, our car (with over 340,000 miles on it!) has broken down again and my mom is scared to go more into debt at this point to repair or replace it.
My father and step mother, who I live with half time, have been very supportive providing money and transportation for me. But now, they are both nearing retirement age, and we are also in dire need of moving for separate reasons. And if that wasn’t enough, yesterday’s car accident with my step-mom will racked up an unknown cost in traffic tickets, car repair and medical bills. They are unable to help.
I really believe that people giving a small amount of money, (i.e $5-10) can really go a long way. Imagine if 262 people, the number of followers I have, gave 10 dollars each. My medical debt would be gone, and we could also deal with the car problem.
